The Author




















Edward S. Tomes writes for a variety of genres including professional development, fiction short stories, poetry and fantasy. In elementary, he read his first book series: The Hound of the Baskervilles by Arthur Conan Doyle.  Since that first book, Shawn has been hooked on the art of storytelling through writing. Shawn admires authors with the ability to create whole universes through the power of words.  As do most people that experience the abundant pressures of adulthood, he went through a phase of only focusing on his professional career, but he continued to write short stories and poetry as a past time. The loss of his younger sister Elyssa D. Tomes, caused him to reflect on what was important in his life. His inward journey sent him down the path of reconnecting with his passion for writing his debut book series the Eyes of Shadow Trilogy.

The judgment of those actions are beholden to the reflection of history.  As the various characters from my book The Eyes of Shadow: Myth of Oblivion come to life, I'm finding the intricacies of human behavior quite fascinating. The Significance of Being Insignificant

The world is but a fragment sliced from the celestial womb of creation and cast to ellipse the heavens Last year I was spring cleaning in my attic and found treasure! It was a shoe box bound by a dusty, red off color string of yarn. It had been at least several years since I arranged the attic so I honestly did not have a clue as to what was in this slightly heavy box I found. When I opened it, I peered at a book stuffed with folded loose papers. They were my old writings from middle school all the way through college. I had reduced the amount of time I wrote creatively to only once or twice every year or so since I had left college. Furthermore, the writings I did have were scribbled on unbound pieces of paper and scattered across a variety of locations including inside books, notebooks, clothing pockets, drawers, well, you get the picture. The Power in Being Fragile

The future is an unknown variable, but your nature is known through the experiences of your past. There is one absolute of this life, the universal truth that every living thing must die. What does the word must mean in that statement?  Every living thing must die?  It sounds morbid, and even immoral in a sense. Nevertheless, all living things, despite their varying contributions of love, hate, violence or peace, are bound by the curse of death. Despite this shared fate, I believe the energy that animates the living is neither good or evil. Our free will empowers us to shape and harnesses that spark we're infused with and aim our influences towards the heights or depths of the life path we choose.
